About Michelle
owner of Simply Pidge

I am a weaver, who learned to spin soon afterwards as an extension of working with yarn, then dye. I have been truly blessed in learning to weave, as my tutors and then mentors have been generous in helping me at every stage of my development as a weaver. I have been weaving for 14 years using ever more complex looms, culminating in both 8 and 16 shaft dobby looms. However, after realising my passion was being squashed by complexity, I have scaled back to simpler looms on which I can be more creative. The Saori style now dominates how I work!

I have also been an indie dyer of yarn and an art yarn spinner. All these skills are now used in Simply Pidge creations to produce unique scarves, shawls and other fabric based products.

In 2013 I qualified as a permaculture designer, and found a home in permaculture for all the things I believed in. I pursue living a simpler and sustainable life and create permaculture designs for every part. Permaculture informs decisions I make in being creative and sustainable, thus making my carbon footprint as small as possible!

I teach both spinning and weaving, although I have decided to suspend both for the time being. I hope to be back when it is safe to do so. Spinning is on a majacraft wheel and weaving on a rigid heddle loom (or Saori).
